Iron Paws Review (2026): What's Actually in the Scoop

Iron Paws is a vet-formulated, human-grade superfood for dogs. Mix it into your dog’s regular food once a day. It was created with Dr. Sharon MacIvor, DVM — a veterinarian with more than 35 years of clinical practice, and co-founder of the company.

“I recommend Iron Paws to all of my clients, no matter what type of dog food you're feeding at your house, because they all will benefit from the 20 active ingredients in Iron Paws.”

— Dr. Sharon MacIvor, DVM, co-founder

This page is the full look at what’s inside, how much to give, what a bag costs per day, and what pet parents usually notice. Last reviewed August 20, 2026. Amounts come from our current manufacturing spec.

What’s inside Iron Paws

Every serving is built from 20 active ingredients — human-grade, no artificial additives or fillers. Available in two flavors: chicken and peanut butter.

The amounts below are per 3.3 grams (two 1.65 g scoops). That’s the daily amount for a 26–50 lb dog. A smaller dog gets half of these amounts. Larger dogs scale up with the chart further down.

Superfoods and greens
Cranberry fruit (700 mg), pumpkin seed, spirulina, chlorella, parsley, kale, dandelion, spinach, wheatgrass, burdock root, moringa, and a trace of Irish moss. Parsley is in the formula for fresher breath. Cranberry is a real 700 mg dose — not a sprinkle.

Everyday support
Taurine (40 mg) and L-carnitine (40 mg) for heart, energy, and mobility support. Inulin (40 mg) as a prebiotic. Food-grade diatomaceous earth (40 mg) as a fine dental texture in the powder. Beta-glucan (20 mg) for immune nutrition. Brewer’s yeast (1,520 mg) for B vitamins and taste — it is inactivated, not live yeast.

Probiotics
Two strains: Bacillus subtilis (WellBac 40™) and Bacillus coagulans (IDCC 1201). Together that’s about 2 billion CFU per 3.3 gram serving, plus the inulin. A one-scoop serving for a small dog is about 1 billion CFU.

How to give Iron Paws

Mix it into your dog’s regular food once a day. It blends with dry food, wet food, or a little water. Most dogs go for it because of the chicken or peanut butter flavor. Picky eaters: stir it into a wet topper first.

Each scoop is 1.65 grams. A bag holds 60 scoops.

  • Dogs 1–25 lb: 1 scoop per day
  • Dogs 26–50 lb: 2 scoops per day
  • Dogs 51–95 lb: 3 scoops per day
  • Dogs 95+ lb: 4 scoops per day

For the first 3–5 days, start at half the daily amount, then go to the full amount. That’s the easiest way to avoid a loose stool while your dog gets used to it. If your dog is sensitive to chicken, choose peanut butter.

How long until pet parents notice a difference?

Most pet parents notice fresher breath within 1–2 weeks of consistent use. Energy, coat, and digestion are often clearer by 2–4 weeks. Joint and mobility support may take 4–6 weeks of daily use.

Give it a full bag at the right weight before you decide. If it’s not the right fit, Iron Paws comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee — we’ll refund you, no questions asked.

How much does a bag last?

Listed price is $39.99 per bag (60 scoops).

  • Small dog (1–25 lb): about 60 days, $0.67 per day
  • Medium dog (26–50 lb): about 30 days, $1.33 per day
  • Large dog (51–95 lb): about 20 days, $2.00 per day
  • Giant breeds (95+ lb): about 15 days, $2.67 per day

That’s one serving per day. Bigger dogs use more scoops in that serving — the same way you’d expect any powder to work.

Who Iron Paws is for

Iron Paws is formulated for dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. Pet parents use it as their daily human-grade superfood — digestive support, fresh breath, coat, energy, and overall vitality in one scoop.

Always check with your veterinarian before starting a new supplement, especially if your dog has a health condition, is on a prescription diet, or is on a special skin protocol. Chicken-sensitive dogs should use the peanut butter flavor.

Frequently asked questions

Is Iron Paws good for dogs?
Yes. It’s a vet-formulated, human-grade superfood with 20 active ingredients, made in the USA. It is a daily supplement, not a medicine, and it does not replace your vet.

Does Iron Paws include probiotics?
Yes. Two strains — Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus coagulans — at about 2 billion CFU per 3.3 gram serving, plus inulin as a prebiotic.

Does Iron Paws contain brewer’s yeast?
Yes. Inactivated brewer’s yeast is in the formula for B vitamins and palatability (1,520 mg per 3.3 grams). It is not live yeast. If your vet has your dog on a yeast-related protocol, ask them before you start.

Will Iron Paws remove tartar?
Pet parents notice fresher breath. The formula includes parsley, cranberry, and a small amount of food-grade diatomaceous earth. It supports a cleaner mouth between brushings. It does not replace a veterinary dental cleaning.

Is Iron Paws FDA approved?
The FDA does not approve dietary supplements for pets. Iron Paws is manufactured in an FDA-registered US facility following GMP, and every batch is third-party tested for purity and potency.

Who makes Iron Paws?
An independent American company co-founded by veterinarian Dr. Sharon MacIvor, DVM. Sold at ironpaws.co and on our Amazon storefront.

What if my dog doesn’t like it?
Try the other flavor. Mix it into wet food. If they still won’t eat it, we refund you — 100% satisfaction guarantee.
